Have you ever had a job that you didn't like but you stayed there for a certain reason?
In my case, I've been working at McDonalds. This poor $6.75/hr job of mine has been the hell of my life for a while now. Working over 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, everyweek has grown tiring and stressful. Usually working an hour overtime everyday, I tend to work 54 hours a week. Now 54 hours a week is a bit extreme for me, I don't mind 40, but 54? I couldn't handle that too well. But why do I bother staying there? Simple. I need MONEY. I need to afford hormones, electrolysis, Trinoc*coN and moving out. I need lots of money in that case. Not to mention that I usually have a habit of buying a video game a month (though I've been sticking to old and used $10 games).
Now McDonalds is far from a career, far from a good job, and way far from a good paycheck, but it DOES pay. Another thing about the job is that it is poorly run. The managers are cheap, lazy ass bastards that don't know how to run a place. They work, but they go where they're not needed. If something breaks, they will wait a while to fix it or replace it. Here is an example, the debit card pin device is not working. It hasn't been working for months, about 5 or 6 months. The managers won't fix it, won't replace it, and won't do a damn thing with it. What they do is PLAY dumb and act as if this is a new problem that has never happened before, then on top of that forget about it the next day and then when it happens again, they still think it's a new problem. Another problem is the shake machine. It's been down for about a week and a half now and they need to replace it cause it's completely broken, but they don't want to replace it cause it will cost money. So what do they do? THEY BUY A DEVICE THAT TELLS US WHEN A SECRET SHOPPER COMES IN. Our cameras are broken, our ATM machine is broken, nearly every week we have something new braking on us.
Then there is safety. I can't count how many times I've been burnt, cut, squished, strained, and have fallen.
We do keep the place clean, after work, but during work it's a mess. Even with non-skid shoes you slide around like you're on ice. We don't wear gloves when making food, not only is it unsanitary (though we do wash up), it is also unsafe for us. We are supposed to have 'colored heat resistant disposable gloves' this is supposed to protect us from most burns. But McDonalds is so cheap that we won't even buy them. It's stupid. They make us handle food even after getting a cut, they just tell us to get a bandaid and get back to work. I don't like the fact that they are just so STUPID about everything.
I don't understand how they get good approvals when they get investigated.
Well thats enough of MY rant. Anyone else want to rant about their jobs?
