After playing through Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, I realized that it's actually an underrated game. Though I will admit it does have crappy points. But it is actually not that bad of a game.
What games do you find to be highly underrated?

Suikoden and Guilty Gear. No matter how many people who says they are good, that the own, that can never justify how good they really are!
mmmm,,,suikoden *drool*

mmmm... Suikoden...
But as for really under-rated games, the free ones on the internet. there's no way they should be free and fun, but a lot of times they are. Also, no one but geeks know about Seiken Densetsu 3, and I have to agree with my friend that it was better than 2, maybe even 4 as well, but either way, damn good game, no recognition from anyone but game fanatics

I'm a huge fan of the Seiken Densetsu series. Beat all of them (I only finished one quest though in SD3). But AMAZING series I'll agree. I still think 4 is my favorite, but it's only good if you complete EVERY quest (it's the only time it makes sense).
I didn't care much for how they did Sword of Mana though, but it was the WAY they did the quests. Most of them REALLY sucked. And the only one I haven't finished is the 'amigos' quest (since no one else has the game).
Secret of Mana though holds a place in my heart though, since it was the first of the series I played, even before Final Fantasy Adventure (Seiken Densetsu 1). I just loved the game so much.
At one point I tried to make a fan game for the series (calling it "The Tree of Mana") and have the story all about the Tree of Mana. And the corruption through an entity that creates and controls the 8th day "Shade" Halting time and corrupting people by possessing them. (It got a bit detailed). But I got pretty into the series. I also wanted it to surround some history of the Legend of Mana world "Fa'Diel" and talk about the Jumi and how they once were a flourishing race.

I've played Seiken Denetsu 3 on emulator. It was fun, didn't get to far though. If I can get one of those nifty things that enable me to use my Playstation pad to the computer, then I'l definitly play it trhough=)

Just buy a new gamepad FOR the computer. Get the Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Trigger. It can be plugged into the PS2 AND the PC. And the gamepad has 2 more buttons than an average PS2 controller. (plus it has Force Feedback) I think the wireless version though is PC only. So if you want a gamepad for PS2 as well get the wired pad. It should be available in the UK (in fact I think it was released there first) www.game-over.net/reviews.php?id=428&page=features (This has a review of the gamepad) europe.thrustmaster.com/eng/d_prd.php?p=T174&fam=5 (This is their official website with the specs and pic)

personally using the Logitech Dual Action. It's just like a PS2 controler.

Katamari Damacy is underrated. Yes, I am taking into account how highly rated it is anyways.
But seriously, one game that isn't so much underrated as undernoticed would have to be the Armored Core series. Best console mecha games out there. The only games that might compare are Steel Battalion (that game with the $100+ controller) and Mechwarrior 2-4 on PC. None of the console Mechwarrior games, Mech Assault, Robotech, Gundam, or ZOE (Zone Of (the?) Enders) games come anywhere close to comparing to the Armored Core games in any aspect but marketing.
The bad thing about Armored Core is that there's nearly no publicity for it. Unless someone points you towards it, or you stumble across an AC website online, chances are good your eyes'll skip right past it in the game store.
EDIT: And Tetris. Tetris is underrated too.

I am an Armored Core fan, I got a LOT of my friends hooked on Armored Core back when it first came out. Then I waited about 2 years for a sequel. Now it's got plenty of sequels (I still have to beat Masters of the Arena). I also have Armored Core 2 which thankfully doesn't take place in the same time, but decades after the events of the first trilogy. I still love the Plus enhancements, I tend to keep a data WITH Plus and one without.
As for Katamari Damacy, want to play it, but haven't had the spare cash to get it.

AH yes, the Human PLUS mode... in AC3 and Silent Line they got rid of it, and replaced it with OP-INTENSIFY, an optional part that would eat up all your optional part slots. The only advantage to OP-I as opposed to Human PLUS is that you can still play in tournaments with the same file. To unlock it you have to beat the game, then do some miscellanious tasks to unlock the various powers of OP-I. They got rid of it completely in Nexus and Nine Breaker. The only ACs you'll see using OP-I-like powers are the top five or so rankers in the Arena. Though the second disc of Nexus does have some Master of Arena and Project Phantasma missions, so you get to fight a Human PLUS project victim (he was tested against his will) in one of those missions. EDIT: I rambled a lot, but this isn't the place to go into detail on every single one of the myriad plethoras of changes from AC2 to Nine Breaker, so I deleted it.Um, yeah... I'm rambling and nonsuch. Um, yeah... go here for Armored Core stuff. ^^;
